Press reports have indicated that Qatar Airways is continuing negotiations with Bombardier which may lead to the eventual purchase by the airline of Bombardier’s CSeries aircraft.
At one time, Qatar Airways was held as being the CSeries launch customer, but this did not come to fruition due to concerns of the airline over maintenance costs with the Pratt & Whitney PW1500G engines powering the aircraft type.
Qatar ordered the Airbus A319neo instead, but the airline has confirmed in interviews that it still has an interest in the CSeries for itself and its leasing company. A final decision with regards to a CSeries purchase is expected in the near future, no later than May 2013.
