Embraer reports Third Quarter deliveries and backlog reduced

EmbraerThird quarter results for 2012 from Embraer were released and showed that the manufacturer’s backlog of aircraft is shrinking as are the number of aircraft delivered.

Embraer’s report stated that deliveries of commercial and executive aircraft fell in the third quarter of 2012 from a year earlier. 27 commercial aircraft and 13 executive aircraft were delivered from July to September of 2012, compared with 28 commercial aircraft and 18 executive aircraft in the third quarter of 2011.

Embraer’s backlog of firm orders fell to $12.4 billion at the end of September 2012, from $12.9 billion in June of this year and $16 billion in 2011.

While concerning, the report is not unusual when compared to Embraer’s rival Bombardier or other aircraft manufacturers.
