Embraer E-Jet orders at five year lows

Embraer LogoEmbraer announced today that the company’s order backlog fell to its lowest level in more than five years.

Embraer delivered 21 commercial aircraft in the first quarter of 2012, but captured 12 new orders which reduced the value of its backlog to $14.7 billion, according to a securities filing. This marks, since 2006, the first time that the backlog would be below $15 billion, which in turn would reduce their order books to having less than three years of revenue on hand.

In related news, Bombardier announced in March of 2012, that it expects plane deliveries to drop this year due to weak demand for its commercial aircraft products such as the CRJ 700, CRJ 900 and CRJ 1000.
